a good question and it is this which is at the basis for many atheist arguments...and the truth is we don't, yeah thats right, we don't know that God is really there, so y do we believe? Well Christians combat this in several ways firstly by saying that there is plenty of evidence for there to be a God, through looking at the world around us....the simple complexity (i know its an oxymoron) of creation is so enormous that it must point to an intelligent designer.... Then we look at ur next question....essentially how do we know that christians have got it right? This is a very difficult question to answer as i have to say that even i think the answer is a bit shaky.... My first argument that christianity is correct is that the bible is the most historically accurate source out of all the other religous text...now this itself does not prove cthe divinity of Jesus but it does show that Jesus was most likely a real man who did all these things....if ur a history buff u'd understand when i say its backed up by countless primary and secondary sources. My second argument would be that i can see the impact of the ministry of God around me...i see peoples lives changing and miracles that happen through God My final argument is that God himself purposely left this area grey....not so that he would turn people away from Himself but so that He could create the idea of faith and inspire total devotion to God. A good verse that demonstrates this whole idea of faith is Hebrews 1:1-3 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible"
I recommend that you explore Hebrews as it has many things to say on this topic.
Did that answer your question?

Honestly? No, I guess I just really want proof that I can touch and see and not just rely on faith. Oh well, guess there is no black and white answer.

C'mon, you should just try and pray to God, He is there looking over us.

Everyone is hit with doubt sometimes, we can't help it. But when I'm in doubt I pray, even though it's hard. The problem is that lately I've been in doubt more and more and my prayers are beginning to repeat themselves (which the Bible says you shouldn't do as it should be straight from the heart not repeated), so I just have to go into detail, tell God everything that I am thinking and feeling, and what I want to feel.
Sometimes God gives me inspiration in the form of others, but it's usually not straight away. We have to be patient sometimes; we can't expect the answers right away.

Lee Strobel, the author rebuts atheist arguments on topics like suffering, science, evolution, that God loves us yet he condemns us to hell, and a really godd chapter on how doubt in Christian suggesting that it is even healthy in a realationship with God. as i said just send me a pm and id be happy to supply it!

I think I've read that book and I actually didn't find it that helpful. The author didn't really answer the questions or maybe that's just because I read a 'teenager edition'

i may have been....hmmm im sorry but the best i can do at this stage is ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you and that you would lose the doubt that is acting as a barrier im sorry that i cant do much more .....this is between you and God only and though i can encourage you to continue praying and getting into God's word the rest is essentially up to you....
