What probably a lot of you don't know is that I have a huge fanatical obsession with steampunk. To be honest, it's even bigger then anime. But after talking about anime too much at school I realised that it would be safer not to talk about my obsessions too much with people. However I don't think anyone will get as easily interested in steampunk as with anime, and since I started talking about it in the cBox I decided I'd explain a little bit about it. First, some pictures to confuse and amaze you: Modified steampunk guitar. iuinfoi101.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/steamtop.jpgSteampunk computer. zedomax.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/steampunkipod.jpgDesign for a steampunk iPod. racked.com/uploads/2008_05_steampunk.jpgSteampunk cosplayers. Steampunk series. ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51r79YForqL.jpgSteampunk anime. (Steamboy is also an example of a famous steampunk anime) Now, yes, one says cosplayers. Because cosplaying is not limited to otakus of Japanese culture or anime. That being said, WaiCon, the only (yet findable) steampunk convention in Australia is also swarmed by a lot of otakus as well, and acts as both a Steampunk and Anime festival (with the emphasis being on steampunk). For a quick description: Steampunk is a genre or era in which everything still runs on steam power and is set in the 18th century Victorian England (usually). The only difference being that many things in our time - examples being sophisticated weaponry, occasionally computers and computer systems, electrical instruments, cars, and the most common being airships or flying ships in the sky - are also included in these world, except that they are created as though they would have been made in that era. Airships are a very common aspect of steampunk, and a lot of stories are made on steampunk pirate ships in the sky with crews and whatnot, with the ships built exactly like old sailing boats, except with things like huge engines or other things that would enable them to fly. It's all very customisable and interesting, and beautiful. Now you can understand a bit more. For a more detailed description, click here.

Did you not read?
Also, I was not aware there were other steampunk fans at our school. Have you listened to Steampunk music before? I have heaps you can have, they're created by a Sydney band called Flood of Rain, who released their entire album for free saying that music is a beautiful thing that should be shared.
Do you know of any Steampunk stores? And yes, a Series of Unfortunate Events was one of the 2 things that introduced me to the genre many years ago XD

No, I've looked it up, City of Ember looks awesome after the trailer, but it's not steampunk. However, I heard that it was based off a book however it badly represented the book is some places. I think the book may possibly be steampunk, but I'm unsure. They're wearing modern clothes however int he book it says all the colour was used up and everything was dull and colourless, etc.
