"We've already shutdown"To these words, the executives seated around the desk mumbled and sighed. They had already known this was going to happen, but to hear those words from the Chief's own mouth meant a great loss to them all. For years they had worked to perfect Kaoru, and for months it had blossomed more than anyone had expected. They had created artificial intelligence capable of being called "human". Artifical intelligence that, if placed in a human body, would emulate it brilliantly, almost without flaw. The company at first only had idea in plan for this intelligence, their upcoming game, Kaoru Online. But they, and the media, as well as scientists and big names worldwide, realised that with further research this kind of artificial intelligence could change the world as they knew it. And so Kaoru was going to be their guineapig. Millions of players worldwide created their avatars and began play, their avatars taking on characterists and adopting habits of their player, almost becoming real in-game, interacting with the other almost-real avatars, and the almost-real NPCs that seemlessly populated the world. But something happened... Without explaination, what could only be describe as a deadly virus swept through the servers of Kaoru, and one day, within minutes, it was gone. The servers stopped responding, the company distraught. And so now, months later, they revealed their cancellation of the project. The media snapped at this opportunity, and in the real world, it caused quite a commotion for a while. But, imagine this... What if those avatars were to continue living in their infected world? What if, to them, life went on? Strange occurences were becoming known in Ilea. Around the world, people were disappearing and strange, dark fogs were looming over certain locations without explaination. The higher-levels sought to investigate the matter, whilst the rest of Ilea's population grew increasingly more confused... "Are you sure?" The NPC sighed, leaning against the pole that held up the roof of his food stall, "I told ye, oi've nivvah seen anything loik it me loif." The player groaned and turned to his party mates, "It can't be a quest, the NPCs know nothing..." "Then what is it? There's no explaination for this..." The mage shrugged, "Who cares? We can stay in the city and make some money anyway." "Money? Got something valuable, whitey?" She winked, "Nope, but I can dance!" "Hey, who'd pay to see you dance?" They party laughed and set off. Classes [/b][/u][/size] Note: This isn't really that important, it just lets you know that not everyone can heal or fly or run really fast or whatever you want to do. Also, please be realistic. You can't heal someone forever. Even though there's no literal HP/MP points in the roleplay, imagine that somewhere you're gonna run out of energy to keep casting spells, or die. Think of it as real life, but with invisible limitations.[[Level 1-14]] Freelancer: Very skilled with weapons; cannot use magic; are better at making things than others; have highest HP range; have very low defense; are faster than others. Fighter: Stronger than others; cannot use magic but can crush the enemies with powerful but slow weapon skills; have higher HP than mages; have higher defense than others; cannot make things; are slower than others. Magician: Weaker than others; can use limited range of magic (low level healing and low level elemental attacks); can make things; have lower HP than others; have higher defense than Freelancers; are slower than Freelancers. [[Level 15-39]] All classes have higher stats and better skills than previous classes. All classes can create items.Rogue: Are faster than others; have higher defense but lower HP than Monks; very skilled with all weapon types; cannot use magic. Monk: Are slower than Rogue but faster than the rest; have higher HP than the rest; can use magic to improve their stats only; cannot use weapons but deal very high damage with their own physical ability. Alchemist: Are slower than others; have higher HP than all except Warrior, Monk and Rogue; have the magical abilities of a Magician but can also enchant items and equipment; can make things no other class can; use their items to better themselves. White Mage: Have lower HP but higher MP than Black Mage; can use magic to improve stats, heal well; can revive fallen players with a little HP; are based upon protection of others in battle. Black Mage: Can use only lowest-grade heal but has strong elemental attacking magic; are based upon destruction. Warrior: Has higher defense than others, apart from Monk and Rogue has highest HP; when HP is critical can use magic to increase stats sometimes; stronger than all except Dragoon; are based upon strength with weapons. Dragoon: Has lower defense and HP than Warrior. Can use magic to increase stats; is faster than Warrior; are based upon a balance between speed and strength. Archer: Has low HP and defense; fights from afar using a bow; can use magic to increase stats only; is based upon range. Musician: Has very low HP, has medium defense; uses music to rapidly increase the stats of others; can fight with instruments, but badly; can also dance as opposed to play/sing music; can use as a way of getting money; is based around support. Pickpocket: Has medium HP but low defense; cannot use magic; has very high agility and speed; can use variety of stealing methods on others. [[Level 40-79]] All classes have higher stats than the previous and more skills to go with them.Assassin: Has higher speed than others; low attack and HP; can use magic to increase speed only; can turn invisible for a length of time but cannot attack whilst invisible; is based around stealth. Paladin: Warrior and White Mage combined. Dark Knight: Warrior and Black Mage combined. Ranger: Highly upgraded version of Archer. Bard: Has very low HP and medium defense; can use powers of magician and can also use music/dance to heal (but not revive) and increase the stats of themselves and others; can use low-ranged musical attacks on enemies. Swordmaster: Has high HP and very high defense; can increase own stats only using magic; is like a highly upgraded version of warrior. Mystic Bow: Archer and Magician combined. Summoner: Very low strength, HP and defense. Can use magician skills. Can call forth creatures to assist them after first defeating and obtaining these creatures (can start off with a few). Trainer: Like Warrior except can defeat wild monsters and capture them. Gunner: Like Archer except with wider variety of weapons and guns and stuff. You know. Thief: Upgraded version of Pickpocket. [[Level 80-150]] All classes have higher stats than the previous and more skills to go with them.Shadow: Upgraded version of Assasin with magic. Holy Steed: Upgraded version of Paladin. Nightwalker: Upgraded version of Dark Knight. Bowmaster: Upgraded version of Ranger and Mystic Bow; with magic. Weaponsmaster: Upgraded version of Swordmaster. Songstress: Upgraded version of Bard. Sorceror/Sorceress: Skilled in both white and dark magic; cannot use swords and stuff though; low HP; medium defense; highest MP and magical attack/healing and revival powers as well as stat-changing abilities. Firearmed: Upgraded version of Gunner. Spiritualist: Upgraded version of Summoner with more beasts available. Beastmaster: Upgraded version of Trainer. Burglar: Upgraded version of thief. Cannoneer: Operates either mobile or static cannons; very high HP; no magic; high defense; lowest speed. [[No level limit]] Merchant: These characters can only use daggers or other such low-level weapons; have very low stats in all areas; but can turn invisible for a very short amount of time and can throw bombs and stuff. Can make things, and main purpose is to sell things OR be ultra-skilled in a certain trade, for example, blacksmith. GM: Game Moderators; have extremely high stats in every area; cannot usually be killed unless specified reason; usually does not appear in player world but resides in Serenesity, the GM world. Although there are GMs, they do not have special powers accept to stop player-killing, teleportation, and oblideration of players they wish to destroy (they can also run events and things). Players can be GMs if you wish but please don't abuse or go over the top thanks. Anything I've missed? Let me know. Open![/u][/size]

((Someone joined!!!! -Dances- Now I have to convince Frost to join. He's just about the only other good roleplayer on this site that can be bothered with these kinds of things (apart from Macca, but he hasn't been on in 2 months... Biuomanic is good too, I'll ask him.))

Blood stained the crystal-white snow of the mountain, and with a dramatic screech, the pig tumbled down the slope. "Tedious..." He still ached, his body hurt from the wounds he had faced in battle, even when cicatriced with mana. The sky grew ever-darker, more rapidly than it should have. At first he thought it to be signalling rain.
"The monsters in the Mountain get vicious when it rains..." The city was a long way away, and fog and darkness were hastening their growth in the area around him. And it wasn't a regular fog, either; it was stained with a disgusting colour that was almost ashen. If this was an Event, he hadn't listened out for it, and he didn't want to stick around if it were going to be dangerous.

((I assume we can post now ;D also, what level do we get mounts?))
Karinath pulled his swords out of the ogre, discharging dark energy in to the monster as he did so... He groaned, and just before the beast counter-attacked, unleashed and icy elemental blast, slowing the monster. He sheathed he swords and unslung his axe, delivering a killing blow. "Ugh..." He drank a healing potion, and continued towards the city, staying away from the mist...

Karrieth was on the outskirts of the city, as the clouds drew over. "Wonderful" He thought, Perfect cover to enter a city, where he was not welcome. Karrieth was given a quest by a local NPC, to eliminate another NPC named, "Barterex Aims", who worked as the blacksmith in the buisness district of the city.

((It's non-restrictable, so mounts can be acquired whenever))
As the fog grew thicker, it burnt as he waded through, so much that on several occasions his HP was almost completely depleted. Only due to his class skills was he able to continue to struggle through, the fog choking him until all light became invisible, as if he were standing in complete, living darkness. He felt it eating away at his mana, and in a desperate act of confusion, he used up the last of his power to shed some light around him, and for a moment he thought he could see it, but this light was, too, quickly devoured by the fog. That's odd... That was a high-level... Spell...
Unable to continue on, he felt himself collapse, before realising that he was still on the mountain. With his last ounce of strength, he pulled himself in the direction he thought he remembered as the edge, and pushed himself forward. The polluted stench of the fog was immediately accompanied by the familiar one of the fresh mountain air as he fell down the side of the mountain. Looking up, he could see the fog rapidly spreading, infecting everything it got to, before he fell with a crack onto the side of the mountain, losing consciousness as his body began to roll back down the mountainside.

((AWESOME =D and what characters can fly? You mentioned that earlier...))
Karinath looked over his shoulder, and realised that the fog was gaining on him.... He quickly summoned his Death Strider mount, jumped up, and rode towards the city as hard as he could... The fog arriving would cause confusion, and perfect opportunities for looking for rare artefacts... He could wait for months if he had to... He grinned...

Karrieth sat on the church steeple, looking over the city. All around him, the sky grew dark. A cool shiver ran down his spine, as he unsheathed his dagger, and raised his right hand to his heart. With a flick of his right wrist, and a blur of light, Karrieth was invisible and on the move. With great speed, that distorted the darkened light around him, he jumped from the roof of the church, to a balcony two stories above the busy district below. He placed one hand on the balcony fence and jumped to the corresponding balcony, one story below on the building opposite to the previous. He made his way to the ground and began to run as fast as he could towards the Blacksmiths. He could feel his Magica fading fast. With his right hand, he pulled a small potion from his small back pack. As he drank, his spead increased, as did his Magica. "I hope this lasts." He though to himself, as he dodged passing predestrians.
In a matter of moments he was at the door to the Black Smith. He looked around him, It seemed like night had come early. He gave it not a second thought, as he entered the blacksmiths home.
