'Symbols of Sera'[/b]
The title was barely legible, and the book itself terribly old.
What does it mean?
"Never read that one, Sav. You love your history, right?"
Savannah looked up, "Umm. Mmm."
"Speak up, dear!"
"Yes."
"O'course."
Savannah noticed someone waiting behind her looking somewhat cynical.
"Well, that you for the loan," she concluded, picking the book up from the desk.
"Nice to meet you, too, m'lady. The name's Gillian, just in case you were wonderin'. Seeya, Savvy."
You're a wonderful flier, Lilly told Rine as she was wheeled out the door by Father Treed, fairly sure he could hear her, I can feel you twisting through the skies...
"Not a very nice day..."
Lilly looked up at the Father as he began to stroll her through the somewhat untamed garden outside the chapel
Lilly's voice was humbled, "Perfect for a farewell, though."
Treed didn't respond.
One of the old priests had died the night before. Lilly was awake, and the voices still strolled through her mind as she heard the cries of the priests throughout the building. They really softened her inside. Even Treed, the man whom she considered to be the strongest there, and of course her favourite, couldn't hold back his tears as he shared the news with her.
Lilly had never seen the man, and if she had she couldn't recall his face, but at least for the others, she felt deeply saddened by the occasion.
It was also her first experience with death.
They had just farewelled their friend from inside the chapel, the burial being the most heartbreaking for all of them there as they delivered his body back to the earth.
Lilly herself was even allowed to lay some of his favourite flowers on the grave,
"I hope your life was filled with wonderful memories, Father."
"When the Auder was wider, many people came here to farewell their beloved," Treed informed,
"When was that?"
"Quite some time ago," his voice became increasingly shakey once more. Lilly knew he was struggling, and it hurt her to feel this as well.
"Could... Could you leave me in front of the Father for a while?" Lilly asked, only wanting him to have a rest from her constant needs.
Treed hesitated for a moment, "Are you sure? The weather hasn't been great recently."
"It's okay," Lilly smiled, "I like it this way."
Savannah took another peek at the peculiar cover. She wondered why she'd had it on loan.
It was another link to her past, at least, and her curioisty had piqued at a new high.
As she ventured back to the entrance, she overheard laughter nearby and turned her head just slightly.
Her heart fluttered, much to her distaste.
Siberius? And another friend I presume?
She stopped walking and allowed herself to gaze for a moment or two.
Or three.
Siberius laughing, his usually dark face now bright and cheerful.
They look nice together.
She left the facility and headed back to her private room.
