Well, ever since I've seen Higurashi no naku koro Ni, I've been desperate to go to Shirakawa-go, the village that the anime is based in (in the anime it is called 'Hinamizawa', but it is the same place).
Everything in the anime is actually real (structure-wise. There is, unfortunately, no real Renas running around T^T) and is based off real things. You could go into character's homes...

Now, interestingly, at the shrine you place up wooden 'wishes' in hopes that they will be recieved.
The authorities were forced to build another wall of wish-hanging spots because of this...
