Colossians 2:16-17 (New International Version)
16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ
This clearly states that after jesus came down and died on the cross that the things mentioned above including the sabbath say is no longer neccasery. There might be versus saying that the sabbath day is needed and stuff but it was written before jesus came and it was neccesary then.

Read that carefully and read it twice if you must, this does not say not to keep the sabbath and there is no reference in this verse to go keep Sunday or the first day, it is irrelevant its just telling us not to judge each other by our religion. The Jewish Christians were trying to impose ceremonial law as we know ceremonial law was done away with at the cross, the Sabbath is part of the 10 commandments (eg. thou shalt not murder) and not the ceremonial law.

But no because you cant intemperate that incorrectly its there in black and white not to judge people by their religions, it doesn't say AT ALL in that verse to worship on Sunday or Saturday...it is irrelevant.

wow ...right....ok interesting debate u have here.....yikes...ok where to begin
i believe that whether it is the saturday or the sunday which you put aside as a day to worship God, is irreleveant... what u have to do is og back to the roots of the issue....why do we have a sabbath at all?......what is the purpose of the sabbath?
(im not after a thesis btw just easily and simply)
ps

well, right now I'm in the Sabbath so I am bored. lol just kidding I shouldn't be bored because the Sabbath was a blessing from the Lord, it is the day of the week that God rested from all his work of making our world, there and then he blessed it and made it holy. Then they were in the 10 commandments, which were never changed and to God no commandment was more important than the other. The purpose of the Sabbath is a day rest from all your troubles and work from the week, it also is a day that is to be kept holy. In Genesis God blessed the SEVENTH day and made it holy not the first day not the fifth day, he chose the seventh which everyone knows is Saturday.
In the 10 commandments God only says things like this: thou shalt not do this thou shalt not do that thou shalt this thou shalt that and so on but only 2 are different, these are the 5th one it starts off with Honour thy father and mother. and the 2ndon is the 4th commandment is Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
The Sabbath day is a blessing, why would God abolish that? I shouldn't have to show you too many more verses from the new testament because I have shown you heaps.
If you can PROVE to me from the bible to go to church on Sunday I would love to go to a church that worships on Sunday because quite frankly, Saturday is inconvenient but because its for God and its what the bible says I keep the Sabbath holy.
a few years ago they found some people living in a cave, I think there were about 10 of them and somehow they found a bible in the cave and when they brought the people to civilization as we know it they found out the cave people were Seventh day adventists without even knowing it because they had only had influence from the bible and so they kept the Sabbath holy.

(im not after a thesis btw just easily and simply) ps I don't think the the point God was trying to make was there was a specific day in which you must keep holy or else; I think the point was intending to tell us that we must devote a day to Him and keep it holy. The whole 'Sabbath should be on this day' thing was probably so that it would become regular and scheduled, almost as a chore, for people to devote a specific day (Saturday or Sunday) to God, and also so that fellowship could be reinforced and priests would have a set day to work on xD; That is why having a set day is important, however it is not necessary, in my opinion. Nor is church congregation and fellowship for every Christian, I believe. Of course we need Church congregation and fellowship, but not for every Christian. We need churches and fellowship so that people have a place to go to to learn more about their creator, God, ask for spiritual advioce, or become spiritual. It is not completely necessary. If a person has a lot of free time, they could simply study the Bible themselves and only come to Church if they have a problem or question. The Bible says 'Fellowship is important'; it is not a Commandment given nor a necessity spoken of in the Bible (as far as I am aware).

Well what if i were to say that we have absolutely no idea which day is "the seventh day"...i mean calenders change a heck of a lot in 4000 years ...so the "seventh day" of abrahams time could be a tuesday.....a friday or a sunday.........anyway personally i dont believe that God particularly cares wether we set aside saturday or sunday.......i dont think hes that finicky instead we should be focusing on the reason he wants us to do it.....to set aside a specific time not for work or play or doing watever the heck we want but to spend it glorifying him......
as to the going to church thing...now no where in the bible it says thou must go to church ....but personally i believe that the weekly time spent in fellowship with other christians and learning from a preacher whose purpose is to guide u through ur walk with God is a huge part of being a christian...its my sort of commitment laying aside a couple of hours in which my thoughts are solely on Christ....besides which church is heaps of fun!!!...... please note that i am not saying that to be a christian u have to go to church....u dont..... i am simply saying that as a christian it is far better to go to church...

okay....well, Farr I didn't say you had to be a Christian to go to church...well nobody did...but it is a commandment to Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Now, when God created the Heavens and the Earth, he Blessed the Seventh day and made it holy, calling it the Sabbath. It just common knowledge that Saturday it the seventh day of the week, the calender has not been changed in days but only in seconds ever...one time someone tried an 8 day per week calender and it just didn't work...people have been keeping track of the days of the week for a long long time and its never been changed, Saturday was always the Seventh day, the Sabbath day. In other languages it is called "Sabbatto" and similar names from language to language...
You don't have to go to church to be a Christian but it is a major help and inspiration to people of all ages. Its also nice to be able to talk to and become friends with people of the same religion because you van learn from one another...As justme said "learning from a preacher whose purpose is to guide you through your walk with God in Christ" this is a good thing also and even if you don't agree with the preacher you can try and prove him/her wrong and see what happens. Church is a good path and guideline to help you to your walk with Christ.

When did he take it away? What do you mean by have a need to go have Sabbath? It was a commandment and it never, not once in the bible says that God or anyone IN SCRIPTURE EVER changed it. The Sabbath is a blessing not a chore.

The only thing Jesus told us to commemorate and "repeat" after his death was the passing of the unleavened bread and wine.
Anyway, I hate most places of social congregation. Including school, but it is a law and necessity to go there. Not because of what's inside it, but because of the people, which is actually what makes up a church anyway. Church would probably be more of a problem for me than a help, all you really need is faith and a Bible, and it's probably what I'll always stick to.
