In Absence of Sera is the title I'm thinking of for the moment of a re-write of Search for the Skies that we'll complete probably off the site. Maybe. Probably. Maybe. Yeah. The reasons I like this title: - It sounds cool.
- Sera (the mythological Writer that supposedly rebelled from the other Writers during the First Demon War to join the humans and help them destroy the demons. She is worshipped sometimes as protector and even deity by certain religious groups including Serenfas) being "absent" may be the way her followers described the events that occurred in the first story, and as the Second Demon War takes place during it, having no Sera would question her existence but also mean humanity would need to fend for itself, which is what happens.
- It sounds cool.
That aside, this is mainly here to discuss the development of Vadaa as a world and the appropriation of people events, etc. that exist within any of the stories so far. This could include continents, peoples, locations, religions, geography, whatever. The more the better. History=realistic Vadaa. Also this lets us completely remove traits, events, inventions, even whole characters that we disapprove of

p.s for now the title applies not to the series as a whole but to the re-write of Search for the Skies. If you think it should be the series name, good. Otherwise we need to come up with a new series name. We also need a better name for TPoP.
A number of things to open to discussion: Shelrair's Ascent to the Throne This event, happening in between TPoP and RS, is completely illogical as it currently stands. In order to make it work, we need to change a few specifics within Shelrair's character. Here is what I propose (you can play with these ideas and remove, add and modify wherever you feel wish, and then make a decision whether you like them or not obviously): The Real Backstory What we already have is a purposefully vague, succinct summary of Shelly's early childhood. Born a twin from a wealthy family in Central belonging to the Organisation of Serenfas, Shelrair (then Michelle) was often looked down upon. All definitely seemed to favour her sister. Moreover, whilst she was expected to be a child "prodigy" of considerable talent, she could never even manipulate the myst at a basic level, whilst her sister achieved nigh-miraculous goals to the delight of the Organisation, including the Elders. Some said she was destined for Sirehood, perhaps later Elderhood. Shelrair, however, could not contain her jealousy. After enlisted into the care of a small Auderian chapel on the outskirts of the city whose priests and caretakers were mostly of Serenfas as well ((her family then would need to be... Serenfasial Audists? Perhaps that can be a religion accepted by the community of Serenfas as being an Audist but praising Sera for her patronage to mankind... Or something)), Shelrair was looked after to a degree. Even there, however, most adored Shelly's sister while paying herself little attention. She fostered a caring relationship between herself and Head Priest McKenzie of the chapel, but it was not enough to stop her firey jealousy from driving her to slay her sister and flee one day. There is more to her backstory - including living on the streets, meeting Trale, discovering the Descendants who reluctantly but surely accepted her over time, her eventual marriage to Trale and devotion to the Descendants, who she considered true family, and even her later visits to the chapel where she re-kindled a friendship with then-Father McKenzie who forgave her actions of the past and attempted to lead her onto the path of an Audist without success ((though, as Empress, she professed this religious following to cover for her true beliefs as a Descendant)). In order to make Shelly more realistic, and make her accession to the throne logically able, the follow should be considered: [/ul] This way the death of Trale would not be suspicious, and it would make sense for Trale to remain out of public eye, even for something such as marriage, and will make the next proposition more viable... [/ul] If Shelly's parents died after her 'marriage' to Trale after she'd been with the Descendants for many years, Shelly would be the inheritor. If this inheritance included titles of nobility, (as it has been stated the family was rich) it would make sense for Shelly to even be considered by the Imperial Council for election after Eleanore's 'death' is announced. This would mean that Shelly would be in public view before the events of the coup. It would mean that she would own an estate, perhaps, though she might rarely visit it, and it may mean that she could have met Eleanore after her coronation between the events of SftS and TPoP, only as a very vague "Hello, I'm Lady ____" or something. Shelly was thus have to be seen as single in the public eye. Also, if Shelly were to arrange for herself to be the benefactor or even leader of a low-level spy network loyal to the Empire before the events of the coup, it would seem non-suspicious that she would be in there in the first place. This would involve events like Shelly ordering her spies to investigate the coup and stop it from proceeding, but as she was also on the side of the Descendants she would be easily able to warn them of what the spies will attempt to do and stop them in the process. Also it would mean Shelly would know exactly how to destroy communications, etc. instead of just magically knowing where everything inside the palace is somehow. I know. It sounds silly. Spy networks and all. This is why I'm opening it for discussion xD; The inheritance part sounds good but yeah if you can think of what to do with the spies thing let me know please ;A; Some less-huge proposals: A cultural and traditional part of Immestrian history may contain very rare, but necessary periods of imperial mourning instead of things like state funerals. The only ones that would happen within our stories would be:

Vadaa sounds like Valar, the beings that the men of Middle Earth call 'gods'.

Everything sounds like something else, and Vadaa is the name of the world not the name of the gods (who are called gods) or the demi-gods (who are called writers). Also this page is primarily for Claw and I but you can raise your hand when something sounds extra stupid and let us know I guess.

I still think you should create a roleplay of your own authority. Even though the only members would be you and possibly myself.

I have considered. I have a full set of material for a horror Sci-fi roleplay but I dropped it when I realised I had a massive scenario, many ideas and it grew to the point where.. ahh.. mm.
The point is, I like the idea of creating a roleplay, but all the idea's I have already had have either gotten over-complicated or old.
I would create one if I felt I had an idea that could actually work as a roleplay, and not just be an exploration of possible future tech.

Perhaps a shorter, more concise name that applies to the themes of sfts as a whole would be better, for instance: blah: Red Sea. That way if spin-offs, prequels or other additional branches from the original series can still be linked with them, all with the title starting with blah.
As a draft brainstrorm, perhaps:
- Search For: Sky (also applying to: Peace, Red Sea, Words, etc, or even 'The Search For') - Tale of: _____ - Vadaa: The _____
You know, a word or phrase that is placed within the title for readers to establish the connection. For example, (and I apologise in advance for these obvious examples) Lord of the Rings ______, Star Wars Episode_________. Even for novels, they'll have clear indicators.
So yeah. Also Farr, I'd really like to sit down and create a gigantic plot map with you, as well as the various citadels/towns, and elaborated profiles for each character, major or minor. A giant encyclopedia, essentially. Then we could create the storyline for each 'chapter' of sfts, tpop, rs etc, and then we'd be able to re-write a more concise, planned story that will make sense.

About the plot map: I had the same thought last night. Also we should actually draw up basic maps of the different continents and places on them. About the title: Yes but see, "Lord of the Rings" was the actual series name. The actual books written did not have "Lord of the Rings" in the title. It was simply "The Fellowship of the Ring, " etc. but the LotR is put in front when describing the series, then the title. "The Lord of the Rings" is similar in length to something like "The Absence of Sera," and of course on a book it would have that. Not saying that TAoS should be the series name though. Would you accept it as a title for the first story? If we can come up with a series title that includes the word Vadaa it might we good, or it might be better to come up with one about the overall themes and not include the world name. I'll try and think of some overall themes that could be names and put them here; put any you think of and we can choose the best ones and vote for them? The Third Throne. (The) Living Children. [The demons are born into already-living bodies. Siberius, whose memories begin in childhood? Awoke as a child?][/ul]

I don't particularly like The Absence of Sera, maybe something short and sweet but still applicable to the main theme. I like The Third Throne, or anything based on that seeming as the Throne is such an important thing in every one. It would even be 'One's Throne' or something. I like the Children one too.
- The Memory: ____ (or Memories:) - Our Brethren, or even The Brethren - Orphans of Kingdoms? - Birthright Also, for the first one, I think it should be much more Demon-centered. Perhaps it is announced earlier in the story that there has been a Demon or 'Supernatural Being' sighting in Central?

I definitely agree about the demonness of the first one being raised xD Like I said, in my practise for Extension 2 I tried re-writing an opening of the first one and the first thing that happens is that a guy stumbles upon a band of murdered nomads and a person he immediately recognises as a demon but talks to logically; he is then told to return or he would die of malnourishment in the desert. (I forgot to mention that he was actually in a bar sharing stories of demons with Eleanore and someone else, as that ties into the third one where Elle owns a bar and shares stories so it means storytelling is a favourite hobby of hers, as is drinking. Continuity, bro.) But more than that, we actually need to include Serenfas or even the Descendants or both SOMEHOW in the first one, even to a minor degree. That's like the hardest thing I think we'll be faced with D;
I like the idea of having memories in the title. I was thinking something like Memory of the Third Throne but it puts too much emphasis on the last one. Memories of the Dethroned? idk.

Hybrids.
Okay, so you've got me there. What should happen when a demon has a baby? I have no idea anymore. Perhaps it could be explained that because the demon's body is now extremely responsive to the myst after the summoning (perhaps that is not only a spiritual but physical change -- the summoning ritual physically alters the reaction of the body to the myst to a certain degree, making it easier for demons to harness their powers?) that hybrid children are SOMETIMES born with this reactive body, much like ancients like Siberius. The Ancients passed their reactions genetically to their children until eventually the art was forgotten and went unpractised, their bodies naturally weakening in response. The Ancient believed this to be spiritual, though, but then how was it passed to their children unless meditation in its extremes were taught to the children? And if this is the case, why doesn't everyone just start meditating and magically learning aura skills? :F It'd probably be best if there was a physical reactional change as well.
So perhaps, then, it is best if we say that hybrid children are NOT demons in that their souls do not return to the Red Sea after death -- but they may sometimes be born with mystical abilities not held by those of pure human blood. Does that work?
Also, the abilities of the myst and aura and Fate need to be discussed. Originally, the Fate was meant to simply amplify the abilities of the user. When SftS started, Sei was supposed to have mystical powers already. I changed my mind, though, and then the Fate GAVE him powers, but amplified those of other people if they already possessed some ability. NOW though I think it's best if we assume it is a sword in which the spirit of a demon is trapped. Others can tap into and harness this energy. For ancients, this is extremely powerful. For demons it would be even moreso, had the sword not been protected against use by demons (perhaps this was not always the case, though? Perhaps it was blessed with this protection only recently... Perhaps when Emilia uses it in FotW it is not protected? bffh.). It can not do anything myst or aura cannot do, but it can amplify the user's abilities to such that it can achieve extraordinary effects.
In my opinion, "myst" as it is called should be easier to manipulate than aura and should have less of an effect, only being able to change things in a minor way. ALSO it can be directed, for example if Sei were to strike at Siberius by directing the myst in his direction, as everything in the world is said to be made up of myst. Perhaps it would cast a multicoloured blur visually for a moment as it passed. It really has no other colour because it IS the colour that people see around them, so perhaps a blur would be best visually when it is being manipulated.
Aura is really up to you. A suggestion could be that it changes the nature of something so that it is no longer of the myst, or no longer natural. It could maybe have a colour. Up to you.
Pyr(e): Should we have it? Should we change the name? The idea of changing something to take a remembered state instead of the present one is extremely powerful. However, it is not even used anymore. Might be better if we removed it from the first roleplay. Perhaps it can exist AS A LEGEND rather than a reality.

Maybe the title needs to be about Demons and Humans and their relationship? The Blessed and the Cursed or something? Bloodline? Bloodless? Lifeless? Memoryless? Lost Memories? Bloodlink? Memory Link? Lifelink?
As cool as the Hybrid idea is, it is technically impossible, so yes, if Demons did manage to reproduce and successfully give birth, the children would inherit the Demon's powers to some degree, but would definitely still be human.
Aura is the manifestation of a living thing's spirit, and it's colour depends on the overall temperament of the user. The Feyanrer's all have a blue aura because they all are quite patient and calm(except Crillic, I think his was Yellow). Diabora might have red or purple or something.
